AMSP’s Winter Core Maths Festival is comprised of three one-hour talks by three inspirational speakers. We hope that these will enthuse, challenge and enlighten you and offer a springboard to the creation of, even more, fantastic Core Maths lessons.

Who will benefit from attending?

These sessions are designed to appeal to all maths teachers, regardless of how much experience of Core Maths you have had, if any. These sessions are also likely to appeal to teachers of other subjects that incorporate some mathematical content, such as Biology, Geography and Social Science.

Content

Speaker: Tim Harford

Settle in for an illuminating and engaging Saturday morning Festival session with Tim Harford

Many of you will have experienced the delights of Radio 4’s More or Less and know how relevant the techniques and approaches are when teaching Level 3 Core Maths. Tim’s latest book, ‘How to Make the World Add Up’ takes you even deeper into the land of misinformation and provides ten simple rules for understanding numbers.

Tim will highlight gems from the book, igniting your curiosity and inspiring you to pass these tools on to your students. Tim has even agreed to undertake a Core Maths question live in the session!
