MEM Orbiter Newsletter Mailing List

This is for lecturers, teachers, parents/carers, and other interested parties to sign up to receive notification of a termly newsletter, the MEM Orbiter, from Mathematical Education on Merseyside. There will also be occasional emails to inform you about relevant mathematical activities.

MEM is an umbrella organisation, bringing together staff from Liverpool's three universities and local school teachers. As such, the MEM Orbiter and our emails also promote relevant mathematical activities and opportunities run in the region by third parties. These include, but may not be limited to, Liverpool Mathematical Society, the Liverpool Mathematical Society Bursary Fund, the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme, Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool John Moores University, and the University of Liverpool.

MEM Masterclasses

Pupil data will be collected for the purposes of the MEM Masterclasses and to inform parents/carers of the Ri Masterclass which follows it. Most data will be deleted after the MEM series, but name, school, contact email and DOB will be retained until next year's series to ensure no one gets registered for a further series. All remaining details will be deleted in the October following the Masterclass series. Please note that some data for pupils attending Masterclasses may be shared with the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) for monitoring and evaluation purposes, in accordance with the consent obtained for this from parents/carers at the time of signing up their child. Nominating teachers’ names and contact details will be retained so that we can inform them about the following year’s series, after which this information will be deleted.

MEM Challenge and MEM Senior Challenge

Pupil data stored for the purposes of the MEM Challenge and Senior Challenge competitions will be the name, school and prize category for winners of prizes and certificates only. Coordinating teachers’ contact details will be retained only for necessary correspondence relating to that year’s competitions and to inform them when next year’s competition becomes available. After this time, that data will be deleted.
